WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – The U.S. Senate concluded the impeachment trial of President Trump by voting down two charges that had been brought against him, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
South Dakota Senator John Thune voted against both articles and says the punishment didn’t fit the alleged crime.
Thune says the House did not bring a good case.
The Senate did not allow extra witnesses including former national security advisor John Bolton. Thune says they didn’t think he would add any new information.
Thune says the trial may have holdover effects into the November elections.
