STURGIS, S.D. (KBHB) – The latest motions hearing was held Wednesday for a 17-year-old boy charged in the shooting death of a Wyoming teen.

Michael Gavin Campbell is currently charged as an adult with alternative counts of first and second degree murder in the death of Shaynna Ritthaller of Upton. Ritthaller’s body was found in October in the basement of Campbell’s Blucksberg home.

Prosecutors and the defense are going over what testimony and evidence will be allowed at Campbell’s upcoming transfer hearing. His defense team wants to send the case to juvenile court. That hearing has been for May 22.

Campbell’s next motions hearing will be held March 13.
