Outlook shows moderate to major flooding likely

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – The first official flood outlook of the year shows moderate to major flooding is likely on rivers in eastern South Dakota.

Lance Vandenboogart at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says it’s the result of several years of above normal precipitation.

Vandenboogart says all the rivers in eastern South Dakota could see major stage flooding.

Vandenboogart says the outlook is based on conditions right now.

Vandenboogart says the 90-day outlook calls for above normal precipitation and below normal temperatures. The outlooks will be updated every two weeks into late spring.
