FORT PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – City officials in Fort Pierre are asking residents to conserve water as crews try to find and repair a “sizeable” water leak in the city. Fort Pierre Mayor Gloria Hanson says the leak was discovered around 3 a.m. Friday morning. Hanson is asking residents to conserve water as much as possible until the leak is repaired.
Officials are asking residents to refrain from showers, flushing and the use of washing machines and dishwashers until the leak has been repaired. Hanson is also asking residents who are moving around the city to start their day to look for water pooling in locations that may indicate where the leak is at and then contact the city at 223-7690. An estimated time of restoration is unknown.
