PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – Officials with the Oahe Family YMCA in Pierre are planning a half marathon they hope will bring additional people to the Capital City while engaging locals as well.   Executive Director of the “Y” Aaron Fable presented the Road to the River half marathon to the Pierre City Commission Tuesday night.

The course will start at the Steamboat Park Amphitheater go south on to La Framboise Island for a small loop then back up to the Lewis and Clark Trail.

Helping promote the event is the Pierre BID board and Fort Pierre Tourism. Fabel says events like this are specifically popular.

The Oahe Family YMCA is working in partnership with the Sioux YMCA of Dupree to support the half marathon. Any proceeds will go to help the Oahe Family YMCA fund scholarships for participation in activities and events.
