TORONTO, S.D. (Press Release) – A Kearney, Neb. woman has been identified as the person who died Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash west of Toronto.

A 2005 Peterbilt Conventional 379 semi-truck was pulling a full trailer and a pup trailer northbound on Interstate 29 when the driver braked suddenly for two dogs running across the interstate. A 2013 Mazda Sport, which also was going northbound, rear-ended the pup trailer.

Robyn Lind, 60, was the driver of the Mazda and was pronounced dead at the scene. Marlen Kasemodel of Toronto, S.D., who was the 49-year-old driver of the semi, was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. They were the only people involved in the crash.

The northbound lanes of I-29 were closed for a time after the crash.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
