BROOKINGS, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has signed legislation authorizing $250,000 for the Veterinary Medical School program at South Dakota State University.  SDSU President Barry Dunn says the funding will help the school hire faculty and get students signed up for the program.

He says their goal is to keep more students in South Dakota to pursue their veterinary degree.

Dunn says the students will begin their vet school experience in Brookings and then complete their third and fourth years at the University of Minnesota, their partner for the program.

Dunn says they’ll accept 20 students into the first class and have 40 vet students on campus every year.
