STURGIS, S.D. (KBHB) – In response to the Coronavirus, the city of Sturgis is implementing what it calls a “Good Deed Initiative,” – an effort to try and stop the spread of COVID-19 to those people it hits the hardest.
Sturgis City Manager Daniel Ainslie says the initiative will assist high-risk residents who are age 60-or-older and/or those with chronic medical conditions by providing grocery shopping and home delivery servies.
Ainslie says the free shopping and delivery services will be provided by City staff as well as community organizations and volunteers.
Ainslie says those interested in using the service can call the Sturgis Library.
Ainslie says County Drug is also offering free delivery within the Sturgis city limits and he’s also encouraging residents to take advantage of the city’s XpressBill Pay Program to pay their utility bills. Drop boxes for utility bills will also be available at the front door to City Hall beginning Monday.
