PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – A needs-based scholarship program called “Dakota’s Promise” was defeated in this year’s South Dakota legislature.
The top priority of the Board of Regents, President Kevin Schieffer says students lost out.
Schieffer says they know legislators are balancing dollars.
Schieffer says they will bring another proposal back to the legislature next year.
The Regents had proposed matching one million dollars from the state, but the idea was killed even when the match money was taken out.
