U.S. Supreme Court makes history by having arguments broadcast live

VERMILLION, S.D. (WNAX) – The U.S. Supreme Court resumed hearing cases Monday after a break due to the pandemic but made history by having the arguments audio broadcast live.

University of South Dakota Law School Dean Neil Fulton says it is a major break in tradition.

The Justices took part in a teleconference which Fulton says makes it challenging for the lawyers arguing the cases.

Fulton says the Supreme Court is behind other state and federal courts in opening up their proceedings.

The Court normally releases recordings of arguments two days after their conclusion.
