WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – The Senate Armed Services Committee has voted to set up a commission that could recommend renaming military bases with confederate connections.
South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds voted for the commission.
President Trump has said he would oppose the name changes. Rounds says it is about looking forward, not past.
Rounds says the bases were named in a different time.
Both Republican and Democratic Senators on the Committee supported the resolution.
