ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Plans are being finalized for an event called Brown County Summer Fest, which will take place at the Brown County Fairgrounds Aug. 12-16.
The event came about when the Brown County Commission voted on an unanimous recommendation from the Brown County Fair Board to postpone this year’s county fair.
Brown County Commissioner Duane Sutton said a group has been meeting weekly to come up with an alternate event after hearing demand from the public to have something at the fairgrounds in August.
Sutton said the festivities actually get going on Friday, Aug. 7 with a concert.
The Summer Fest will have events starting on Tuesday, Aug. 12. It will include a midway, food vendors, exhibitors and also free entertainment.
Grandstand events will feature bull riding on Thursday and Friday, and possibly a concert on Saturday.
The key to hosting the event will be volunteers. Sutton encouraged anyone who is willing to help to step foward.
He said protocols will be in place to help ensure the health and safety of those who attend.
Sutton said people have worked together to help Summer Fest become a reality.
