PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – The South Dakota legislature wrapped up the 2019 session on Friday by sustaining a pair of style and form vetoes issues by Governor Kristi Noem on some appropriation bills.
It was Noem’s first session as Governor, following her election last November. Long time lobbyist and legislative observer Dave Owen says she did pretty well.
Owen, President of the state Chamber of Commerce & Industry, says Noem set out what she wanted to do and then followed through.
Noem disagreed with Republican legislative leaders on a number of issues. Owen says that is not new or surprising.
Noem was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010 before jumping into the Governor’s race last year.
