State reports one more COVID-related death, active cases drop slightly

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported one new COVID-related death, while active cases dropped slightly according to totals from the South Dakota Department of Health today.

The state had 82 new confirmed cases to go along with 85 new recoveries, lowering the active infections to 1,058 (there were 987 one week ago). The death moves the overall state total to 148 associated with the virus.

Overall, South Dakota has had 9,897 confirmed cases, 8,691 recoveries and 124,770 negative tests. There are currently 56 individuals hospitalized because of the virus.

Locally, Brown County had four confirmed cases and six recoveries, dropping active cases to 41. The county has had 456 overall cases, 412 recoveries, 5,002 negative tests, and three deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 4,521 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 915, Lincoln County with 672, and Beadle County with 596.
