State’s active COVID cases increase by 182, three more deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s number of COVID-19 cases spiked again today, one day after setting a record total amount, and there were three new COVID-related deaths. According to information from the South Dakota Department of Health, the state has 323 new confirmed cases to go along with 38 recoveries. The pushes the number of active infections to 2,182 (it was 1,376 one week ago). The new deaths increase the overall death total to 165.

South Dakota reported an all-time one-day high of 343 new cases yesterday. Today’s total brings the overall amount of confirmed cases to 12,517. There have also been 10,170 recoveries. There are currently 80 people hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, there were 14 new confirmed cases in Brown County and 11 new recoveries, moving the amount of active infections to 109. So far, there have been 618 overall confirmed cases and 506 recoveries. There have been three total deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 5,079 total confirmed cases, followed by Pennington county with 1,284, Lincoln County with 844 and Beadle County with 629. Codington County has had 266 cases, Meade County 261, Clay County 252, and Union County 249.
