PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota legislators passed a bill (SB167) this year that sets up a summer study committee to look at offenses regarding controlled substances.
The Legislature’s Executive Board decided to expand the study to include industrial hemp.
House Majority Leader Lee Qualm of Platte says it makes sense to do that.
Senator Jim White of Huron says they need more information before hemp legislation returns.
Senator Brock Greenfield of Clark says the E-Board can make the necessary changes.
A bill authorizing industrial hemp passed through the legislature this year but was vetoed by Governor Kristi Noem.
