One arrested so far after guns fired during altercation in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, S.D. (By Trent Abrego tabrego@gannet.com) – A Saturday night altercation in the 200 block of Second Avenue Southwest has led to the arrest of one person so far after shots were fired.

The incident was around 10 p.m., according to the Aberdeen Police Department.

“The investigation ultimately showed that it involved a conflict between two different groups of people in which there was an altercation between a number of people from each group,” Aberdeen Police Department Capt. Tanner Jondahl said.

One arrest was made, and the suspect was charged with aggravated assault and reckless discharge of a firearm, he said.

After shots were fired, another person retrieved a gun and fired shots into the air, Jondahl said.

He said that police are still searching for another person believed to be involved in the altercation.
