SD adds 33 more COVID-related deaths; active cases, hospitalizations decrease

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added another 33 COVID-related deaths, and saw active infections and hospitalizations drop according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths, one of which occurred in Brown County and Day County, increased the state’s death toll to 1,210. The state had 945 new confirmed cases and 1,524 recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases by 579 to 15,622. The number of individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus decreased by 24 to 467.

In all, South Dakota has had 89,672 confirmed cases and 72,840 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 28 new confirmed cases and 71 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections by 44 to 643. So far the county has had 4,021 confirmed cases and 3,343 recoveries. There have been 35 total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 22,743 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 9,817, and Lincoln County with 5,995. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,071, Brookings with 2,685, Davison with 2,550, Beadle with 2,410, Lawrence with 2,301, Yankton with 2,176, and Meade with 1,994.
