State adds 20 more COVID-related deaths, two in Brown County

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added 20 more COVID-related deaths, had active infections tick up by 143 and had hospitalizations decrease by one according to figures released by the South Dakota Departmentof Health today. The deaths (which included two in Brown County, and one each in Day County and Spink County) bring the state’s overall death toll to 1,381.

South Dakota had 347 new confirmed cases and 224 recoveries, pushing the active cases to 8,373. There are currently 344 individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus. Overall, the state has had 95,074 confirmed cases and 85,320 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 15 new confirmed cases and 18 recoveries, decreasing the amount of active infections to 298. In all, the county has had 4,224 confirmed cases and 3,873 recoveries. There have been 53 total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 24,064 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 10,543, and Lincoln County with 6,472. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,285, Brookings with 2,827, Davison with 2,648, Beadle with 2,459, Lawrence with 2,433, and Yankton with 2,365.
