Active COVID cases decrease, hospitalizations up slightly, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Active COVID cases continued to decrease, hospitalizations were up slightly, and there were no neath deaths reported, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state reported 501 new confirmed cases and 1,286 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 5,738 (there were 7,627 one week ago).

The state saw an increase of 15 individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus, bringing that total to 303. The state’s overall COVID-related death total remained at 1,446.

So far, South Dakota has had 97,738 confirmed cases and 89,688 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 33 new confirmed cases and 42 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 236. In all, the county has had 4,374 confirmed cases and 4,081 recoveries. There have been 57 total deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 24,774 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,029, and Lincoln County with 6,710. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,414, Brookings with 2,926, Davison with 2,701, Lawrence with 2,532, Yankton with 2,491, and Beadle with 2,488.
