Mild, dry weather causing some drought worries

AMES, Iowa (WNAX) – Mild and dry weather last fall allowed producers across the northern plains to get harvest done in record time. Now those same conditions are causing some worries.

Dennis Todey, head of the Midwest Climate Hub in Ames Iowa says drought is their biggest concern now.

Todey says the systems bringing mostly light snow now won’t do much for subsoil moisture.

Todey says they don’t see the trend changing much before spring.

The latest long-range outlooks call for above normal temperatures and near to below normal precipitation into early February.
