Noem frustrated by lack of action in attorney general investigation

PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – The lack of any action in the investigation of a fatal vehicle/pedestrian crash involving South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg continues to frustrate Governor Kristi Noem. Noem says it remains a great disservice to the family of the victim, 55-year-old Joseph Boever of Highmore.

Hyde County Deputy State’s Attorney Emily Sovell has remained silent in the months after the Sept. 12 crash. Beadle County State’s Attorney Mike Moore is one of three States Attorneys assisting Sovell’s investigation.

Moore says Sovell understands the attention being given to the case.

Moore, a Democratic States Attorney, believes Sovell is handing the case appropriately and also believes authorities are conducting a thorough investigation. Sovell has sole discretion in making any charging decision.
