PIERRE, S.D.(LifeWRX) A House committee Tuesday morning advanced a bill that changes how buffer strips adjacent to waterways in the state are managed.
HB1042, a bill to revise certain provisions regarding riparian buffer strips, went before the House Ag and Natural Resources Committee this morning in Pierre.
The proposed changes would reduce the assessment on qualifying lands from sixty percent down to fifty percent and prevent haying of riparian strips.
HB1042 was amended and sent to the full house with a ‘do pass’ recommendation on a 13-0 vote.
