SD Legislature back in session today following President’s Day break

STURGIS, S.D.(KBHB)– Lawmakers are off Monday for the President’s Day holiday, but will be back in Pierre today.

District 29 Senator Gary Cammack says it has been incredibly busy the past week and looking ahead, he says this week they will be working on Senate bill 171, the Freedom Scholarship…

Cammack is also pleased with the passage of Senate Bill 87, which he was a prime sponsor of.

The measure would authorize the South Dakota Farm Bureau to offer its own type of healthcare coverage…

The bill’s opponents, however, were worried that because the plan does not fall under South Dakota insurance laws, it could lead to higher insurance costs for all. Cammack disagrees with that sentiment…

The bill is now on its way to the Governor after passing through the House 50-16 after passing through the Senate.
