PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg has pleaded not guilty to charges in connection to a September 2020 vehicle/pedestrian crash that killed 55 year-old Joseph Boever of Highmore. Ravnsborg’s attorney Tim Rensch of Rapid City entered an advisement of rights statement and presented it to retired Circuit Judge John Brown.
Rensch says there is a lot of evidence to look at in the case.
Hyde County Deputy States Attorney Emily Sovell agreed to the 60 day status hearing request. That would put the next court date in the case sometime in mid-May.
Members of Boever’s family were present in the courtroom. Expanded electronic media coverage was allowed by Brown for audio only, but denied a request to allow full camera coverage for just the first hearing. The status of future hearings with electronic coverage is unknown.
