PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 1,924. The state had 270 new cases and 159 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,350. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 72.
So far, South Dakota has had 116,370 cases and 112,096 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 9 new cases and 8 recoveries. The county currently has 61 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,253 cases and 5,101 recoveries. There’s currently 91 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 29,224 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,200, and Lincoln County with 8,110. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,158, Brookings with 3,734, Davison with 3,047, Lawrence with 2,882, and Yankton with 2,881.
Statewide 223,684 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 38% of the state) with 139,269 completing vaccination(over 24% of the state). Brown County has 10,446 receiving at least one shot & 6,350 completing vaccination.
