WAUBAY, S.D.(Press Release) – A 61-year-old female died Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash west of Waubay.

Names of the two people involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2007 Lincoln MKZ Sedan was westbound on Highway 12 when it crossed the center line and into the eastbound lane where it collided with an eastbound 2021 Peterbilt 389 semi-truck and trailer.

The female driver of the Lincoln was pronounced dead at the scene. The 60-year-male driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
