WAUBAY, S.D.(Press Release) – A Dayton, MN woman has been identified as the person who died Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash west of Waubay.
Preliminary crash information indicates a 2007 Lincoln MKZ Sedan was westbound on Highway 12 when it crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound 2021 Peterbilt 389 semi-truck and trailer.
Cynthia Elledge, 61, was the driver of the Lincoln. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
James Maher, 60, of Timber Lake, S.D., was the driver of the semi-truck. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Webster hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
