AMES, I.A.(WNAX)- Despite recent rains and cooler temperatures, the long term trend still points to drier conditions in the long term.
Dennis Todey, head of the Midwest Climate Hub in Ames Iowa, says it would take some long lasting rain events to refill the dry subsoil.
Todey says the pattern varies across the region.
Todey says there is some possibility of a more active severe weather season into June.
The outlooks indicate a warmer and drier trend from late April into May, and for drought conditions to persist.
