ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) –Avera St. Luke’s will once again host people for walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations during its clinic Wednesday, April 21.
Walk-ins will be welcome from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Scheduled appointments are available during the clinic’s entirety from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Avera encourages people to self-schedule appointments at avera.org/covid-vaccine.
Vaccination clinics are held inside the Avera Human Performance Center, 815 First Avenue Southeast.
“We found great success in our first walk-in clinic on April 14 and we hope to continue with that momentum,”said Alvin Haugen, Director of Pharmacy and Vaccine Coordinator. “If you were waiting for your turn, now’s the time.”
When you arrive, screening staff will measure your temperature and guide you through the process. You’ll complete a form, receive the vaccine and then scheduled for your second shot. The form is also available here.
Everyone getting vaccinated takes part in a 15-minute observation period. Those that have had a prior reaction to any vaccine will need to be observed for a half hour.
“Avera has worked hard to fine-tune its process and the flow of its vaccination clinics,”said Victoria Lusk, Public Relations and Communications Partner. “Most people are in, vaccinated and out the door in less than a half hour. That being said, scheduling an appointment at avera.org/covid-vaccine or filling out the screening form in advance will help us maintain that flow.”
Masks are required, as in an Avera facility.
People who get the Pfizer shot on April21 will receive the second shot in three weeks. Schedulers will ensure you know exactly when, where and what time you will get the second vaccination. Those ages 16 and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine. Those under 18 need parental or guardian consent.
