Hawks begins role as Chair of Democratic Party

HARTFORD, S.D. (WNAX) – Former legislator and U.S. House candidate Paula Hawks was elected Chair of the South Dakota Democratic Party at their central committee meeting last month.

Hawks, of Hartford, says she ran because she wants to be involved but also stay connected to her family.

Hawks says they will hold meetings this year to talk about the direction of the party.

Hawks says there are some long term priorities.

Hawks succeeds Ann Tornberg who had been chair for the past four years.

Randy Seiler, former Attorney General candidate, was elected vice chair. He and Hawks take their new positions on May 1.
