ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- At the Aberdeen City Council, the first reading on who to lease the hangar at the Aberdeen Regional Airport was discussed. 2 bids were submitted. One by Qwest Aviation & the other by Darrell Hillestead.
Aberdeen City Attorney Ron Wager revealed what the two bid were and the recommendation made by the Airport Board.
Mayor Travis Schaunaman made a recommendation to go with Hillestead because he felt the process the first time was fair.
Councilman Alan Johnson talk about the process but in the end went with Qwest because it was the highest bid.

The vote was 3 in favor(Councilmen Johnson, Ronayne, & Rux), 4 oppose(Mayor, Councilmen Remily, Rife, & Lunzman) & 2 abstaining(Councilman Reinhold & Councilwoman Langer).
Here’s the how council voted on Darrell Hillebrand:
That vote 4 in favor(Mayor, Ronayne, Rife, & Lunzman), 3 oppose(Johnson, Remily, & Rux) & 2 abstaining(Reinhold & Langer).
A 2nd reading and approval of the resolution for the leasing of the hangar to Darrell Hillestead will take place the next city council meeting on Monday, May 24th.
