ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Tuesday, June 1st the South Dakota Redistricting Committee will be getting together in Pierre. District 3 Representative Drew Dennert is on that committee and gave us a preview.
The US Census credit South Dakota with the population of 886, 667. The state is setup in 35 districts. Dennert tells us the target number for each district and the margin of error above and below that.
Dennert told us the population increase in Brown County is similar to that of the state.
According to the South Dakota Secretary of State’s website, there are about 48% registered as Republican, about 27% Democrats, & about 25% Independents or other parties. Dennert tells us they would try to make the districts represent those figures.
Dennert gives us a preview of what to expect on Tuesday.
The committee should get the population of the counties and cities by the end of September.
