PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Plenty of questions remain about President Joe Biden’s 30-by-30 plan. The President wants to conserve 30-percent of U-S land and freshwater along with 30-percent of U-S ocean area by the year 2030. U-S Senator Mike Rounds says he and fellow South Dakota Senator John Thune have sent letters to the Secretaries of Ag and Interior asking to hold off on using 30-30 for land acquisitions.
Rounds hopes the letter with Thune will show the Biden Administration how important public access to federal land is.
Rounds says Conservation Reserve Program land is already doing a good job in conserving land.
Rounds doesn’t know if eminent domain may be included in the 30-by-30 directive.
