PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A member of the Pierre Police Department has been appointed by South Dakota legislators to serve on an oversight panel connected to Initiated Measure 26 which opens the use of medicinal marijuana to South Dakotans. Captain Bryan Walz joins Mobridge Police Chief Shawn Madison as the two representatives of law enforcement.
Walz says the specifics of his role on the panel are being determined.
Walz says law enforcement wants the will of the voters recognized.

The panel, as selected Wednesday by the South Dakota legislature’s Executive Board, includes Brian Dougherty of Fort Pierre as a qualifying patient. The 14-member panel will be chaired by Senator Erin Tobin and Representative Ernie Otten.
