BROOKINGS, S.D.(KJJQ)- A task force established by the South Dakota legislature continues their
work, meeting at South Dakota State University in Brookings Thursday.
The legislature mandated the task force to produce a report on operational efficiencies by the Board of Regents.
Regents Executive Director Brian Maher says they’ve done a great deal but there is still work to do. He says the task force has covered SB 55.
The study includes possible consolidation of administrative services, the elimination of duplicate programs and what to do with the university centers. That includes what is now called the Community College of Sioux Falls.
Maher says work will begin immediately on the task force recommendations.
Maher says they’re also planning a series of town halls on the findings and what they will mean for the state’s universities.
The final report from the task force is due to the Governor and Legislature in November.
