VERMILLION, S.D.(WNAX)- While members of the interim Joint Committee on Appropriations of the South Dakota legislature spent several hours in meetings on the USD campus this week, much of the discussion was focused on diversity instead of dollars.
USD President Sheila Gestring says it was a productive session.
Some legislators expressed concerns with diversity efforts being divisive. Gestring says it shows words matter.
Gestring says they are open to legislative questioning.
The legislators were in Vermillion as part of their east river tour which is stopping at several state facilities this week.
