PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- Young drivers in South Dakota will have new rules of the road as of July first.
Jane Schrank, head of the states Driver License Program, says drivers between 14 and 18, getting their first permit, will need more extensive training.
Schrank says there are other new restrictions being added.
Schrank says drivers ed can be used for some of the training requirements.
The changes had been approved by the 2020 legislature, but due to the pandemic, those new rules were delayed until July first of this year.
