YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Like most businesses, health care providers are struggling to find more employees. The pandemic of the last year has added to the turnover pressures.
Doug Ekeren, President of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, says its difficult at all levels.
Ekeren says finding specialized providers is very challenging.
Avera Sacred Heart has started CNA, or certified nursing assistants, training programs for high school students. Ekeren says it’s a gateway for possible future workers.
Ekeren says they are providing aftercare for their employees, stressed by the demands of the worst of the pandemic.
