INDIANAPOLIS, I.N.(WNAX)- 44 FFA members from across the country were in Indianapolis last week attending the weeklong +-New Century Farmer Conference. The conference is for FFA members who plan to remain in production agriculture. South Dakota’s lone representative is Isaac (kuh-low-zick) Kolousek of Wessington Springs who’s currently studying at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He says they’re learning about all different aspects of agriculture.
He says as far as new technology goes, U.S. agriculture is about to explode and see the industry revolutionized.
Kolousek says the technology they’ve been looking at includes everything from robotics to remote sensing to self-steer equipment. He says he hasn’t decided specifically what he’ll do once he gets his degree from South Dakota Tech but will remain in some form of production agriculture.
The purpose of the New Century Farmer Conference was to grow the next generation of agricultural leaders. Sponsors of the event include: Case IH, Corteva Agriculture, Farm Credit Services of America, Nutrient Ag Solutions and Meredith Agrimedia.
