PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The State of South Dakota saw sales tax returns jump 14% at the end of the fiscal year in June.
Not all of that increase was spread evenly across all businesses.
Nathan Sanderson, Executive Director of the South Dakota Retailers Association, says the past eighteen months have been difficult at best.
There were federal and state grant and loan programs available. Sanderson says most businesses found something that worked for them.
Sanderson says most of their members are finding ways to hang on.
Sanderson says the next big challenge will be battling supply chains to get enough merchandise for the holiday season.
