ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Coming up on Monday the South Dakota Redistricting Committee will be holding their meeting to start setting up the districts for the next 10 years. District 3 Representative Drew Dennert gave us a preview.
Dennert reveals the official population for Brown County & the city of Aberdeen.
The committee in the past has been held separately between the House & the Senate. On Monday, they will be meeting together.
Dennert tells us that Sioux Falls will be gaining a legislative seat meaning a region in the state will be losing theirs.
Dennert talks about how important to keep counties whole if possible.
Dennert believes the best case for Brown County is to put into 2 districts instead of 3 different districts it’s in now.
The committee will meet this Monday starting at 10am.
