WASHINTON, D.C.(KOTA)- D-3 “extreme” drought conditions stretch across much of South Dakota according to the US Drought Monitor, leading to more than just a few hot days.

US Senator Mike Rounds, a South Dakota Republican, says the situation is already punishing producers, adding to other issues like livestock prices and bureaucracy.

Rounds said a severe drought is an economic issue as much as it is an ag issue.

Rounds said good grass management can help get producers over the drought hump.

Rounds said he believes his push for accurate product of the USA labeling on livestock products and closing the gap between processor and producer would help many through the situation.
