FORT PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Fort Pierre City Council has approved authorizing the city to seek proposals on doing something different than it already is with the city’s water supply. Public Works Director Rick Hahn says West River/Lyman Jones Rural Water has put the city on notice.
Hahn says they have looked at other options before.
Hahn says hooking up to Pierre’s new 37-million dollar drinking water plant was too cost prohibitive.
The Fort Pierre City Council also approved an application to amend the statewide water facilities plan Fort Pierre has with the Department of Ag and Natural Resources. The plan would open up the door to low-interest loans to help fund water projects.
