Fossum Field should be ready for summer baseball

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Despite damage to a light tower and the clubhouse at Fossum Field, the facility should be able to host summer baseball games as scheduled.

On April 21, a light tower toppled over, breaking lights and causing damage to the roof of the clubhouse at the field. While it will take some time to put up a new tower, Doug Johnson, Director of the Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, is hoping everything will be ready to go by late May, weather permitting.

He said the foundation was compromised on one of the towers leading to the incident. He said all of the others have been inspected to prevent any other issues.

Johnson also noted that the clubhouse should also be repaired and ready for summer baseball.

The damage caused by the toppled light tower did force the relocation of some college baseball games this spring.
