FORT PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- A former mayor of Fort Pierre held a so-called town hall meeting to air his grievances with the way he believes city government is operating in the Stanley County seat. Two major themes stood out for Jim Hoffman being transparency and financial accountability.
Among those attending were Mayor Gloria Hanson and freshman City Council member Rick Cronin who answered questions as best they could.
The loosely conducted meeting was mostly civilized but at times voices were raised in confrontation of Hoffman’s accusations of a lack of transparency.
Hoffman asked about why Fort Pierre’s water situation and an unidentified man in the crown asked how the city spent Covid-19 funding. Hoffman has been confronting the Fort Pierre City Council with his issues for the last three meetings. He told the crowd of around a dozen at the Fort Pierre Moose Lodge that he will continue to attend meetings and host town halls to keep the public aware of the City Council’s happenings.
