YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- After a slow start, visitation to Lewis & Clark State Recreation Area and other nearby camping sites finished strong.

Shane Bertsch, regional supervisor for the Game, Fish & Parks Department, says they saw lots of traffic all summer.

Bertsch says interest was steady all year

Bertsch says visitation was up over last year, which was a record.

All the parks have added additional camping spots over the past few years.
