YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The Yankton County Commission continued the progress on adopting medical cannabis rules and regulations.
They held the second reading of the zoning ordinance dealing with medical cannabis establishments and first reading of the medical cannabis licensing ordinance.
Ned Horsted, executive director of the Cannabis Industry Association of South Dakota, told the board the zoning ordinance should allow growers to open dispensaries.
Horsted said there could be problems with the county putting limits on the number of licenses available.
Commissioner Dan Klimisch says their limit of ten should be high enough.
The commission approved the zoning ordinance on a four to zero vote. The licensing ordinance will have second reading at the next commission meeting.
