YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The official start of construction of the Mount Marty College Fieldhouse was noted with a groundbreaking moved indoors due to rainy weather.

Mount Marty College President Marc Long says the building reflects core values of the school.

Long also announced the name of the new facility.

Ruth Donahoe was the first female lay teacher at the school, and her family have been long time supporters.

Yankton Mayor Nathan Johnson also touched on the theme of community.

The 100,000 square foot, $15-million facility is due to open in the summer of 2020.
