WASHINGTON, D.C.(WNAX)- Congress last week agreed to extend the funding for the federal government into December, that now leaves extending the debt ceiling this month.
South Dakota Senator John Thune says it’s a problem for the democrats, so they should fix it.
Thune says this debt extension is for the spending democrats plan in the next stimulus plan.
Fiscal experts says this extension is needed to pay for past spending.
Thune says republicans have supported big spending bills in the past couple of years.
The debt has to be extended by about the 18th, or the country could face a financial default.
